About Us

Candles with Conscience are hand poured right in my home in Wisconsin. Beeswax is a slower, cleaner burning wax than other wax alternatives. The wood wicks provide a subtle crackle, calming the mind.

An Idea

Candles with Conscience was an idea that was first born in November of 2020. At this time I found my productivity and motivation at an all time low. Spending too much time stuck at my desk due to the global pandemic, lighting a candle seemed to free up my mind and realign my focus. After discovering wood wicked candles, I knew that the camp fire crackle was something I could not give up. I wanted to have them around all the time, so the process begun.

After searching the internet for candles and learning about the process, I set out to make something better.

Product Development

This is when I learned about beeswax. It was important to me that the candles I burned were not producing harmful fumes. Soy wax was an appealing option due to its cheap cost and the sustainability of Soy products. This makes soy wax a much more sustainable option than paraffin wax, which is a petroleum based wax. Although soy wax does not use petroleum as an ingredient, petroleum is still used in the production process of soy wax. Beeswax does not use petroleum in its production process, just hard working bees.

With this new knowledge in mind, I got to work. With beeswax, wood wicks, tins and smells in hand, the first candles were made. With the support of my friends and family, I had my first orders and an amazing source of feedback; but there was still one problem, I didn't have a name.

Branding

Excited with my new developments, I called my mom to tell her what I've been working on. After about 20 minutes of talking my mother's ear off, and exclaiming how the idea came into fruition, she gave me the idea, "Why don't you call them Candles with Conscience?"

Thank You

There's dozens, if not hundreds, of other people who have been helping and supporting me along the way. Though I can't include a story about everyone, I couldn't thank you all enough. And you, the reader. I don't know how you got to my website, let alone to the end of this mumbo jumbo, but it means a lot to me.

Philanthropy

A candle couldn't help everyone struggling with maintaining healthy mental health like it has helped me. I want my candles to help others clear their conscience and make rational decisions. For every candle sold, I will donate $1 to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

If you have a local charity supporting those with a clouded conscience, send me an email at candleswconscience@gmail.com

It is important to me that funding donated is used properly. Please provide as much explanation as possible and we would love to back the cause.
